Oregon Trail Crafts - A little paper, a little glue, a felt tip pen, and presto |
||||
Crafts! A little paper, a little glue, a felt tip pen, and presto, Christmas gifts for everybody. Not really. People in the old days didn't have crafts. They had craftsmanship. Practically everybody could take a handful of dirt, a couple of sticks and gobs of spit and build a house. Look what I made for you honey! A few wooly sheep, a couple of rocks (to spin the wool and make the hanging loom) and walla walla bing bang...fashion! You had to know a lot of different "crafts" to make yourself comfortable in the old days. Nobody else was there to do it. You couldn't buy what you wanted or needed. Change places with the emigrants. Could you make yourself comfortable? Could you even survive. Probably not. But, could they work your ipod? Take the bus across town? Probably not. Make me proud. Take some dirt and sticks and make me an ipod! At least a fiddle? What about the square dance this friday... can you sing? more soon.... oregon
